Hubsan H109S X4 Pro 5.8GHz High Edition review

Last Updated on September 12, 2020

The Hubsan H109S X4 Pro (high edition) is a professional grade quadcopter with 3 axis gimbal camera support and a controller with integrated screen for FPV. We believe this is one of the most complete bundles you can get for the money. This bundle includes a quadcopter and battery, ground control and battery and the HBS 1080p camera. You don’t need to buy anything else to have a usable setup. You just need to tighten the props and it is RTF.

The Hubsan H109S X4 Pro (high edition) has two easily identifiable improvements over the standard edition. The high edition has a 3 axis gimbal camera support and an upgraded ground control unit, while the standard edition camera can only swing up and down (not left to right) and the viewer screen on the standard edition is much smaller (3.7 inches vs 9.18 inches).

What Hubsan H109S X4 Pro 5.8GHz High Edition can do:

  • Nice smooth shots. The controls are very responsive.
  • High quality camera and smooth quadcopter result in beautiful video shots.
  • Return-to-Home (one button control)
  • Headless mode (basically allows you to fly sideways and shoot sideways)
  • Altitude hold mode and position hold mode (allows you to hover)
  • Waypoint navigation (a set of points that describe the path that you want the quadcopter to take.)
  • – Once you start a mission, the quadcopter is in autonomous mode, and assuming you have enough power, the mission completes regardless of the range to your ground control unit.
    – You can put a WP several km away, start the mission and send the quadcopter on its way.
    – You can then switch off WIFI, make a cup of coffee and wait for it to come back.
    – At your final WP in a mission, the quad exits WP / autonomous mode.
    – If there is no WIFI signal, it immediately goes into RTH mode.

  • Return to home causes the quadcopter to fly directly back to takeoff point and it will land it if you do not take control.
  • Uncontrollable protection – when wireless signal is interrupted more than 3 seconds, the drone will automatically land. (If you were flying along the beach and you exceed the range of the controller, you want it to stop and drop to the ground before it goes over the water.)

What Hubsan H109S X4 Pro 5.8GHz High Edition cannot do:

  • It does not have obstacle avoidance. Therefore, return to home should be line-of-sight, if not it may run into obstacles.
  • This is not a fast racing quadcopter, this quadcopter is designed to move smoothly and give you smooth video shots. Most races require rapid changes in direction.
